ADHD AWARENESS DAY 5

October is ADHD Awareness Month – an international movement to educate the public and create greater awareness of and understanding about attention deficit disorder.

I am determined to help spread the word – and I invite you to spread the word with me!

Here’s one way you can spread the word today:

ADHD AWARENESS MONTH – DAY 5 ACTIVITY

Add an announcement of ADHD Awareness Month to your email signature:

        October is ADHD Awareness Month!

You could also add a link to the ADHD Awareness Month Coalition website:   http://www.adhdawarenessmonth.org/

If you want to get more creative, consider adding ADHD “factoids” to spread the word. Here’s one source (http://www.healthline.com/health/adhd/facts-statistics-infographic#1) of facts, such as the following:

  • Symptoms of ADHD include trouble concentrating, paying attention, staying organized, and remembering details.
  • ADHD can be a difficult condition to diagnose. Children with untreated ADHD are sometimes mislabeled as troublemakers or problem children. Make sure you know the basic facts and symptoms of ADHD.
  • Males are almost three times more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than females.
  •  6.4 million American children have been diagnosed with ADHD
  • Today about 4% of American adults deal with ADHD on a daily basis.

This activity is just one of the great suggestions from the ADHD Awareness Month Coalition’s Calendar of 31 actions for 31 days of ADHD Awareness Month. I’ll be posting them daily to help spread the word.

Thanks for all you do this month to support ADHD awareness!
